Establishing Need
A few things can be done to Establish Need.
First, an assessment can be made to see what the teachers would like to learn. This can be done very
informally by creating a survey with several topics or just by letting the teachers suggest what they need
help with.

Secondly, if the powers-that-be have said that the school is to determine what the school or school
system needs to focus on for Professional Development, then there are needs assessment documents
already constructed that can be followed to help determine that area that needs to be addressed.
