Evaluation
Evaluation can be as informal or formal as needed. It can be a tool for providing
documentation that Professional Development has taken place. Or, it can be an
evaluation to see if the Professional Development has been successful.
It is important to understand the type of evaluation that is needed in concurrence to the
program it is evaluating. If the program is
a F-2-F program that is given in one-day, then the
evaluation will lean toward more of an informal one. You could use surveys, checklist or
rubrics to evaluate the program. However, if the program is spread out over time
, then a more
formal evaluation might be needed. This could be in the form of surveys, interviews, or
observations. It is important that the type of evaluation be discussed before the program is
implemented.

Evaluation...
Is just as important as any of the
other part of Professional
Development. Evaluation is designed
to make sure that the goal of the
program has been successfully
accomplished and to what degree.

Cost of Evaluation...
It is important to remember that the
more complicated the evaluation
, the
more costly it can be. As a planner
you can go to the Internet and search
for the instrument to use. Or, you
can create your own checklists,
surveys and rubrics for the
evaluation of the Professional
Development.
Questions about Evaluation...
There are many questions that should
and need to be asked and answered
when considering which type of
evaluation is useful for the program
that is being implemented. Looking
on this site should provide a start to
answering those questions by
